Kodak Black, others arrested at U.S. border

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – Rapper Kodak Black is one of a number of men recently arrested at the U.S. – Canada border in Lewiston.

The 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

On Wednesday night, New York State Troopers were dispatched to the Lewison-Queenston International Bridge after four men from Florida were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

Authorities say the men were in possession of weapons and drugs.

Also, Troopers say three of the men tried to enter the U.S. in a Cadillac Escalade with a temporary California registration.

Kapri was the person driving the vehicle, officials say. Inside the vehicle, Troopers say an undeclared pistol was located.

The driver of a Porsche traveling with the other vehicle said there were two loaded handguns inside the Porsche. Officials say a third gun and marijuana were found in the trunk.

Here are the other men who are facing charges:

  • Stetson President, 24, charged with criminal possession of a weapon
  • Madarrow, Smith, 20, charged with criminal possession of a weapon
  • Jeantony Saintmelus, 22, charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana

All were arraigned in Town of Lewiston Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $20,000/$40,000 cash bond. They are set to return to court next month.
